Huawei Mate 10 Pro – a good rival for iPhone X
Huawei claims Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro is better than iphone X. Listen to them and decide which one is better.
Mate 10 Pro offers Leica dual camera, 18:9 OLED 6.0″ screen as well as lightning-speed processor and Android 8.0.
Huawei Mate 10 and Huawei Mate 10 Pro are now officially out of the box. It happened at a launch event in Munich, where Huawei’s energetic mobile chief executive Richard Yu presented the details of the company’s new monster mobiles.
Mobile Director Richard Yu, known as a small energetic man, pointed out several times how the upcoming Mate 10 phones are better than iPhone X . According to Yu, you get bigger screen and better battery life compared to the upcoming iPhone X.
In comparison with iPhone X, Richard Yu thinks that Mate 10 requires only one step to unlock while iPhone X requires three steps to unlock the phone. For iPhone X, you must first pick up the phone, than look at it and swipe on the screen. According to Huawei, it is even worse than their traditional fingerprint reader.
You should notice that the Mate 10 Pro does not have a 3.5 mm jack, but there is a USB Type-C based headset in the sales package. Storage space is 128GB, which can not be expanded via Micro SD card.
New and powerful processor
The Mate 10 Pro is powered by the Kirin 970 chipset from Huawei’s own factory HiSilicon , and it is a very powerful configuration which is known as AI. It stands for Artificial Intelligence .
The intelligent chip Kirin 970 uses AI (artificial intelligence) to optimize the phone. According to Huawei, it is much more energy-efficient and the phone’s performance is optimized continuously.
According to Richard Yu, Huawei Mate 10 phones will still keep its performance steady even after 18 months of use.
According to Yu, the Samsung Galaxy S7 had become 195 percent slower to launch apps while Huawei Mate 10 will only be 10.6 percent slower after 18 months.
Of course, it is difficult to test in practice, but it is positive that Huawei focuses on the phones to maintain their performance for a longer time period. We should also expect our phones to stay fresh.
The so-called Neural Processing Unit (NPU) performance is 20 percent better than Mate 9 Pro. At the same time, energy efficiency is improved by 50 percent thanks to the processor AI.
About this part, Huawei says: “Artificial intelligence gives user a faster and personalized user experience. Kirin 970 is an open AI platform. Third party companies can develop new apps that can add even more features”.
Huawei has the 18:9 screen format
On Mate 10 Pro, you will get an OLED screen in 18:9 format. Thus, Huawei goes in the same direction as Samsung and LG (Both the Samsung Galaxy S8 and LG G6 use the 18:9 screen format.) in terms of screen format. The OLED screen also supports HDR10.
The Fingerprint Reader is moved to the back of the body. On Mate 9 it was on the front.
Mate 10 Pro is IP67 certified and thus water and dust resistant. Mate 10 is only IP53 certified. In practice, this means when the phone gets wet, it must be wiped off quickly.
Samsung, along with Galaxy S8 and Galaxy Note 8, has launched the Samsung DeX docking station, which enables phones to deliver a Windows-like interface on an external display. Huawei comes with a corresponding function. This requires only a single cable, and not a special dock.
Dual camera from Leica
The cooperation with Leica continues on the new phones. Huawei Mate 10 and Mate 10 pro both have 12 megapixels RGB camera and a 20 megapixel monochrome sensor and optical image stabilization (OIS).
The camera automatically recognizes scenes and surroundings, and selects the most optimal settings, and also can also take portrait photos.
Mate 10 Pro comes with Android 8.0 Oreo with the EMUI 8.0 interface.
Like Mate 9 Pro, Mate 10 Pro also comes with 4,000 mAh battery, with fast-charging SuperCharge and USB Type-C connection.
Up to two days battery life
The Mate 10 Series comes with a huge 4000 mAh battery, as in last year’s model. Along with the latest version of Android, and the Kirin 970 processor battery, we can expect a very good battery life. According to Huawei, you can get up to two days of battery life with the Mate 10 phones.
Huawei promises that future Mate 10 phones can be charged at 58 percent capacity in 30 minutes. According to Richard Yu, it’s 50 percent faster than iPhone 8.
The AI in Huawei Mate 10 can also recognize your voice. If you make a call in noisy environments, it can boost your voice while turning down the background noise.
