iPad with Touch ID
iPad Touch ID
When the iPhone 5s with Touch ID fingerprint scanner was introduced, the expectation was that the iPad Air and iPad Mini 2 would be provided with Touch ID . Nothing was less true, but probably will change as this year.
A new evidence was published by a reliable analyst Ming Chi Kuo that the iPad with Touch ID has already kickstarted. One of Apple’s regular suppliers, TSMC (Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company), has been producing quite a number of fingerprint sensors for the iPad 2 and iPad Mini Air 3.
The information comes from the Chinese website CESB2B which relies on interviews with subcontractors TMSC. The exact names of subcontractor companies are Suzhou Crystal Semiconductor Technology and Xintec . Both companies provide assistance in the process of making chips for the fingerprint scanner.
The probability that the iPad 2 and iPad Mini Air 3 would be produced with a fingerprint scanner is getting bigger every day. But of course nothing is certain until the official announcement from Apple has taken place. The new iPads are expected in the fourth quarter of this year.
